Father’s Day is only a few days away so I wanted to help any late shoppers out with a few eco-conscious ideas to celebrate this Sunday.
I hope these suggestions help you give a gift that is both environmentally friendly and memorable.
Check them out below and let us know what you think.
1) Outdoor Picnic
Nothing beats getting the whole family outside for a picnic and the Sunshine Coast is packed with gorgeous locations! Head to the hinterland, pick one of the local parks, plan a day at the beach or even set up something special in the backyard. This is a great way to get the kids involved and let dad know how much he means to them. They can help with making sandwiches, cutting up fruits, include lots of dad’s favorites and have fun making a cake to celebrate. Take a soccer ball or cricket set and get everyone involved with a game at the end of the day!
2) Plant a tree in his honour
This is a beautiful sentiment not only to dad but also to the environment.
Choose a section in the backyard where you can plant a tree! Head to the local market or nursery on Saturday to pick out something perfect for your space (we love Yandina markets for plants) and have the kids help dig the hole and plant it on Father’s day morning. What a beautiful surprise for Dad when they take him outside and show him his very own tree.
It might even bring a tear to his eye!
3) Treasure Hunt
Why should kids get all the fun? Treasure hunts have always been a hit with the kids so why not spin it around and let them create one for dad. Hide some little eco-gifts (handmade nature crafts, palm oil free chocolates, eco-friendly socks) for him around the house and garden to collect along the way and then a bigger surprise at the end.
The aim is to make the actual treasure hunt itself the gift. Use fun, memorable glues about Dad, add in some activities (maybe even put some obstacles in place for him to get through) and have a good laugh with the kids.
4) Bush walk or Kayak adventure
Outdoor eco-conscious activities for Dad or the whole family to enjoy. Plan a whole day out as a family with a nature based activity as the highlight. Take your reusable water bottles and pack a lovely lunch to stop and enjoy along the way. Noosa National Park, Noosa Everglades, Noosa River, Mary Cairncross reserve, Glass House Mountains are all perfect options. Not only is it a chance to spend some time together but it is also a chance to get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature.
5) Eco-friendly gifts
